The Young Musicians Program provides exceptionally gifted low-income students with the opportunity to receive professional training in music. Each year students attend an intensive seven-week Summer Session on the UC Berkeley campus where they study a curriculum that develops all of the skills essential for musicians: private lessons on their instrument, ensemble performance, chamber music, chorus, composition, improvisation, music theory, ear-training, and much more. Students study with professional musicians, including symphony members, freelance musicians, and university faculty. YMP is a full scholarship program.
